Final Project: Vector graphic logo

Description: This project was about using the program and unit Adobe flash. We used this program to create a new logo from a logo that already exists. This project is a form of branding, and designing and my logo that I did was the FedEx logo. The normal FedEx logo is orange and has an arrow in the middle of it. I changed the FedEx logo entirely and made a completely different twist to it. The actual word FedEx in my new logo is red and the letter below it I used were "fastest delivery" and those letter are in blue. I also added a truck differently from the normal truck with a specific driver. My change to the logo was completely different in shapes, more letters, and the color schemes and this was all from using the different specific tools in Adobe Flash. This unit and project was very cool and I enjoyed working on something that was fun and you can see the outcome.

Reflection: This project was one of the projects where I took the most out of and learned the most about something I am entirely interested in. I have always been into seeing cool logos and knowing that people are making logos for their living and I thought that's got to be one of the best jobs out there. When I knew we were making our own logos I didn't know what to do but I was very willing to learn. The logo was very complex to make and I had to start over and make many adjustments throughout. Their are so many tools you can use in adobe flash and I had to figure out which ones would work best. I had to do this especially because I had an idea of what to do but the tools I was using was not working towards that idea. I never had any experience in doing this type of work but I now have learned how to use yet another new program in adobe flash and all of the tools and tricks on making and re-creating a new logo. I would be interested in this in the future as well and hope people think that this logo idea was good because I put a lot of effort into it especially because at first I had trouble and had to regroup and start over after my complications.

Final Project: Photoshop

Class Notes: For the class notes class on photoshop we did demonstrations and got used to photoshop because most of us have never used the program before.

Description: In this project we had to use photoshop and create our own project. Many had clever ideas, and I came up with showing top vacation spots that I would love to visit and have vacation time there. The vacation spots that I displayed in photoshop are Boston, New York, Las Vegas, and then Hawaii, Florida, and the Bahamas. For ym actual project, I photo shopped the cities I would like to vacation to on top across the screen, and the tropical warm places on the bottom. I put a plane in the middle to add the traveling effect to it as well.

Reflection: This is another project where I have never learned or done anything with the program, this time it being photoshop. I thought it was the most interesting out of the projects, and fun to put together and add and drop anything I wanted into the project. I thought it was very complicating to try and photoshop perfectly and make it fit into the design you wanted. This project was one of the more challenging and frustrating projects. I spent the most time on this project as well and tried to make it look perfect using a lot of tools and gadgets provided in the photoshop program. I remember using many lines and distinct tools to make the project look as best as possible. I am excited that I now know how to use photoshop and accomplished something I was very stressed about and had complication with. Photoshop is a tool and program that I would like to use in the future for graphic design or something along those lines. I learned many tools and took a lot out of this photoshop project.

Final Project: Audio

Class Notes: During this unit we just did demos and played around with equipment and practiced using the audio equipment such as the microphone, and the audio program.

Description: This project required me to read a poem and put music behind it and upload it to the instructional. This project was funny because of the poem mixture and my voice and then the rap song behind it for the background music. I read a short poem by Robert Frost and then the background song was Beamer, Benz, and Bentley by Lloyd Banks. The project was simple enough, I went into the lab and recorded my voice with the poem, and made the music over my voice and timed up perfectly for this audio project to work!

Reflection: This was one of the only projects that I have already done and had some experience with. I had to record my voice and do this type of work in high school, but I had never had to put music into it and make it a pattern so it would work with my voice. I learned how to move my voice around and how to match up music with poetry in this audio project. 

                   Although all of the other projects I got a lot out of them, this one honestly I just did not. I had experience and knew how to do this project, and I could never see myself doing radio or anything like that in the future after college. Even though this project was not for me it was still good to do something with audio and learn a new program on these computers. I learned the background music, and how to match my voice with it and it was interesting project.

Final Project: Create Our Own Websites

Class Notes: In class we took notes on how to create the website. Before starting the project we did a demonstration and looked at past projects and just got a feel for the program of Iweb.

Description: In this project, we had to pick our three favorite movies and create our own website using IWEB. This project was cool because it is something we love to do, watch movies. The three movies that I did descriptions on and explained what they were about for this project was Flight starring Denzel Washington, Remember the Titans which was such an inspirational movie when it first came out and still is today, and a comedy starring Adam Sandler in Happy Gilmore. This project was fun and interesting that now I know I have my own website for others to see about my personal top three favorite movies of all time.

Reflection: Out of all of the projects we did, I thought this was the best one and most interesting to do. I have always wondered how to make your own website, and seeing other random website on the internet made me wonder how I could do something like that. There are so many random, and pointless websites out there that people create, and now that I have my own website with my three favorite movies I am excited that I know how to do that now. Once Professor Hufstrador said we were doing this and taught us how to make our own website I was excited on trying something new.

                  

                   I have never used a mac computer or used Iweb in my life before this class, so this was totally new for me. I find that the Iweb program is fantastic and a very good resource for students, especially communications students like myself. The best part I believe about the Iweb and this project is the links to the different movies at the top of the project. I like how you can click on "flight", "Remember the Titans", or "Happy Gilmore" and that goes to that page on the website and the person on my website can switch off which page and which movie that want to look at on my website itself. Knowing that I learned how to use a new program, and making a website which of both I had no idea how to going into the class makes me feel accomplished and proud that I can do these things now after this digital media class.

Final Project: Animation

Class Notes: During this unit we had to take notes on steps to take because of the complications of animation.

Description: My idea for my animation project was a golf scene. I had a green, a tree, bunker, golfer, club, water, and the hole all involved. The golfer and the club moved with the golf ball into the hole in this animation. I had to draw out all of the details and then figure out how to make it move. This was very detailed and specific and every detail needed to be framed and layered. To make the objects you wanted to move you needed to select motion tween as well. This project was very interesting and found out how to make animation work and my golf course looked great at the end and across the screen "hole in one" came in as the golfer hit the ball into the hole! so interesting and awesome!

Reflection: During this project, I had to really pay attention to the class before doing the project because this was the most detailed and complicated project by far. In this project, if you messed up one little part or forgot to frame and layer each detail and object you would have possibly forfeit your whole  project and had to start over. I was very careful doing this project and this animation taught me the importance of discipline and to take your time with patience is the key to success to a big project like this. I was originally stressed out about this project because I did not even know we could have created an animation on these computers but I guess everything is possible in these times. I learned to keep calm and to take my time and really perfect it and that is what I did to complete this.

                   The steps to doing this process are the most important to the project of animation. This project was also in Adobe Flash so I knew the program, but the animation was much harder than the logo. All of the specifics and details that go into this project are the most important things that need to be figured out and accomplished in the animation process. I have learned a lot about this project that I would never expect myself to be knowing and learned to have patience in doing a big project after this animation project.

Final Project: Newspaper article

 Class Notes: We took notes on the format and parts of the newspaper in class. For example I have notes on headlines, body paragraphs turning into columns, bylines, and pulled quotes. Also have notes on the fonts, and texts I could possibly have used for my project.

Description: In this publishing project, we had to create an article of a current event and make it our own style. I used big words at the top of the article to make the title "pop" so to speak. The article itself was three columns and three pages, and the topic it was about was the New England Patriots losing in the AFC championship game against the Baltimore Ravens. I thought that me writing an article on this topic would be easy, because it was such an interesting topic because the two Harbaugh brothers were the coaches for the two teams. This was a good first project to the digital media class and gave me a feel for what the class would be like. The article is mainly about the Harbaugh brothers coaching in the superbowl.

Reflection: While doing the project, I ran into some trouble in organizing and putting together the article. Although the article was easy for me to write about, the organization and format was a little tough for me. It is not very often that I do a project like this publishing project, and have to put together an article like this of my own. The including of pictures, text, and "flash" to make the article less boring confused me a little while trying to complete the project. As I was typing and putting together the article, I did not know how to make pictures blend in with the article, and I learned how to make the article look like an actual newspaper by the formatting.

                    Although I have not done this type of work before, I knew how to use Microsoft word. Although I had experience with that, I still have learned a lot and taking positive knowledge out of this project. I have learned how to put together a newspaper article with text, pictures, and the format to make it look like an actual newspaper. I took a lot out from this project because this is something I would seriously consider wanting to do in the future as a reporter, or a writer for a newspaper. Im glad I could do this project on something interesting and something that I know a lot about. It is good now that I know more skills using the computer and putting together an article such as this publishing project. Learning how to make a newspaper like this means a lot because now I can further my knowledge and try to pursue this goal of mine and have something like this to put on a resume.
